Sixteen policemen in Kelantan tested positive for drugs in the first three months of the year, said state police
chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim.
He said stern action was taken against the errant policemen over their involvement with, and conspiring with drug dealers.
He said it was because of such irresponsible policemen involved in information leakage that it was difficult for the force to carry out operations and make drug-related arrests.
Mazlan was speaking to reporters after the closing ceremony of the 'Hate Drugs' walkathon programme at the state police headquarters here today.
Meanwhile, he said the police had implemented the Discipline and Drug Control System, in which personnel would be monitored by a supervisor and undergo a urine test every six months.
