A total of 17 MCA Kota Tinggi and Tenggara Division committee members will resign from their government agency posts effective tomorrow, Kota Tinggi MCA chairman Ng Keng Heng said here today.
He said the 10 members from Kota Tinggi and seven from Tenggara will do the honourable thing and respect the resolution passed at the 2011 MCA Annual General Meeting (AGM).
"It was decided at the AGM that if MCA candidates won less seats in the 13th General Election compared to 2008, we will not accept any posts.
"This is the democratic way and we should respect the results of the polls," he told a press conference at the Kota Tinggi MCA office this evening.
The agency posts included Kota Tinggi District Council member, Kota Tinggi Hospital Board of Visitors, Community Leader and Kota Tinggi District Council observer, he added.
Also present was Tenggara division chairman Gan Ong Peng.
