171 made homeless in longhouse fire

SIBU: A fire today left homeless 171 people of a 37-door longhouse in KM58, Jalan Sibu-Selangau.
No casualties were reported in the fire which occurred at the Jungan Longhouse, said a statement from the Operations Centre of the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.
Two teams of firemen from the Selangau station and the Sungai Merah station rushed there after being summoned at 6.58 am.
The actual cause of the fire and damage had yet to be established, it added.
