1.74 mil Indonesian citizens in Malaysia cast their ballots
As many as 1.74 million Indonesian voters all over Malaysia will be fulfilling their duties Sunday in the 2014 election to choose their respective legislative representatives.
From that number, 402,730 will be voting in four polling stations here in Kuala Lumpur itself.
According to Freddy M. Panggabean from the Indonesian embassy, six different locations have been allocated for voters to cast their overseas ballots, namely Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Tawau.
Aside from direct elections, there are two other ways for Indonesians here to vote.
Freddy told Astro AWANI that voters can either send ballot boxes to locations such as factories, farms and plantations or sending over postal votes.
Voters outside of Indonesia need to undergo early voting as the tallying of votes must be performed on the same date as the General Election in the country on April 9.
The results of the election will only be announced officially in May with the involvement of 130 embassies and consulates around the world.
There are 714 election officers on duty during the election process here in Malaysia.
After the end of the 2014 legislative election, Indonesia they will choose a presidential candidate later in July.
