The police arrested 18 people, one of them a woman, for attempted provocation when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak attended the 'Kenduri Bersama Rakyat' (Feast with the People) at the Seberang Perai Polytechnic here today.
Seberang Perai Tengah Police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said they were aged between 20 and 50 and included some political leaders, all of whom attempted provocation by holding up banners and placards.
"They began to gather at the vicinity of a fuel station in front of the polytechnic at 8.30 am and attempted the provocation. The police acted to prevent any untoward incident," he said when contacted by Bernama.
