A total of 180 individuals were arrested yesterday for defying the Movement Control Order (MCO) directives, Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced.
“Of the total, 16 have been remanded, while 164 others were issued with a compound, for being involved in activities held with total disregard of physical distancing,” he said in a statement on the daily development of the Recovery MCO here today.
Between July 24 and yesterday, 7,364 individuals have returned to Malaysia from 30 countries and are currently housed at 30 hotels and five Public Training Institutes (ILA) in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, N.Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Perlis and Kedah for the mandatory quarantine process.
“Among them, 20 were tested positive for COVID-19 and had been taken to hospital for treatment,” he said.
Since March 30, a total of 9,530 public sanitisation operations had been mounted involving 12,809 premises in 134 zones nationwide.
The premises include 2,694 business centres, 5,627 government buildings, 1,591 housing areas including PPR flats, 2,543 public places and 354 supermarkets, he said. - BERNAMA
