KUALA LUMPUR:The police have arrested 19 individuals in connection with the discovery of firearms in Tampoi, Johor, recently.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the suspects included locals, with the foreigners comprising Indonesian and Myanmar nationals.

He declined to provide details on the firearms, but said they were found in Tampoi last Jan 1 and 2 and the case was being investigated by the Johor police contingent.

“Whether they are used for unlawful purposes or to be disposed off, we are still investigating,” he said after unveiling a book on the history of the establishment of the Central Brigade and Battalion 4,5,6 and 19 of the General Operations Force (PGA) at the APM  Central Brigade Headquarters in Cheras here.

In another development, Acryl Sani confirmed that two of the suspects who were arrested in connection with the shooting of PGA members last Nov 12 had been released on police bail, and it was not that they had escaped police custody.
