1MDB audit: Portal's report of delay unfounded, irresponsible - PAC chairman
HASAN: PAC urges all parties to believe and trust the committee. Moreover, the committee is made up of bipartisan members, including those from the opposition
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin today expressed his regret over a report made stating that there would be a delay in the National Audit Department's tabling of the final audit report on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB)
Its chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin said that the report in a news portal is "unfounded" and "irresponsible", and intended to “damage the reputation and credibility" of PAC and the National Audit Department.
“PAC would like to stress that the National Audit Department shall table its final audit report on 1MDB in February.
“In regards to that, PAC urges all parties to believe and trust the committee. Moreover, the committee is made up of bipartisan members, including those from the opposition.
"There is nothing to hide and all PAC reports are based on true and accurate information,” he said in statement today.
He added that PAC also regrets the decision made by the Swiss attorney-general, who chose to inform the media about probe into 1MDB as he thinks they should have dealt the matter with the Malaysian government instead.
In quoting a source the portal today reported that the full audit report on 1MDB, will only likely be tabled late this month or in March instead of its original date of February.
