Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) confirmed that it is ready to a no-holds-barred ‘live’ talk show on issues involving 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) but its points format must be decided first by the quarters involved in the debate, said Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.
“We will provide the space but the show’s format must be decided first,” said Salleh.
He also added that it is a non-issue for the national broadcaster (RTM) to provide io or a moderator for the debate, if both parties place their requests.
Salleh said that a discussion between DAP lawmaker, Tony Pua and 1MDB president and group executive director, Arul Kanda Kandasamy before the debate is aired.
“We hope the debate can be done as soon as possible to clear all confusions,” said Salleh when met at Parliament on Monday.
Arul on Saturday accepted Pua’s challenge to hold the debate.
He even voiced his willingness to answer all Pua’s questions pertaining 1MDB scandal.
However, Arul Kanda set a condition – that Pua must first resign from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) as the bi-partisan committee is currently investigating 1MDB.
Arul Kanda said this is to avoid any conflict of interest.
