The hearing session by the Attorney-General on 1MDB is currently underway in Parliament.
1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has not yet handed over important documents needed in the investigations such as bank statements and agreements to the Auditor-General, said Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
The documents had been requested by the Auditor-General for its interim report which had been handed over to the PAC this morning.
“1MDB needs to fully cooperate especially in terms of its documents so that this report can be finalised by year end.
“Most of the information had been confirmed by the Audit Department, but there are several important documents needed in the investigation which had not been made available by 1MDB,” he told reporters during a press conference today.
Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang handed over an interim audit report on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) to Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed at around 10.30am.
The report was from an audit conducted on the company from March 10 to June 15, 2015.
The proceeding by the PAC, which is currently underway, is a hearing session for the Auditor-General's report on 1MDB and is expected to continue until 4pm.
On March 4, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had ordered the Auditor-General to independently verify the accounts of 1MDB.
The PAC has reportedly begun investigative proceedings into the 1MDB scandal on March 19.
Following a special meeting on April 30, the PAC had decided to begin investigations on 1MDB.
