Media members were not allowed to enter the Parliament today where the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is holding its final proceedings into the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Media members were also informed that the PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin will not be holding a press conference after the proceeding.
Sources said media was barred from entering the Parliament after Hasan had told that media members were not invited to cover the proceeding which began at 10.30am today.
The PAC which began its probe into the 1MDB in May last year, will hear from 1MDB former president Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh today.
1MDB former president and CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi will be the last individual to give statement to the PAC before the committee closes its hearing on the matter.
This is the second time the media was barred from entering the Parliament to cover PAC’s proceedings.
Previously, media was barred covering the proceeding with 1MDB president Arul Kanda Kandasamy.
Hasan had earlier said the Auditor-General will be briefing the PAC on his findings on the 1MDB issue on Feb 24 and 25.
