Malaysian police will record a statement from Xavier Andre Justo who is now being detained in Bangkok, Thailand on Tuesday, to facilitate investigations into issues related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the date was fixed by the Thai police.
"A PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) team headed by Bukit Aman CID deputy director (Investigation/Legal), Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh be there to interview Justo," he told reporters after opening the 27th Malaysia Auxiliary Police Conference here, Thursday.
Also present were Auxiliary Police Association president Baharuddin Othman and Malacca police chief Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye.
Justo, 49, was jailed three years by the South Bangkok Criminal Court in Thailand on Aug 17 for extorting 2.5 million Swiss Franc (RM11 million) from his former employer PetroSaudi using documents stolen from the company.
On Dec 5, Bernama reported that Justo's statement on the 1MDB issues was scheduled to be recorded last Tuesday (Dec 8) but was postponed by the Thai police.
In another development, Khalid said there was a new development on the arrest of members of IS yesterday, but a statement on the matter would be issued as soon as possible.
"Indeed, there was a new detention yesterday... we will issue a statement when everything is ready. There are certain considerations to be made before we issue a statement because the operation is not over yet," he said.
Meanwhile, he said there are 27,058 vacancies for auxiliary policemen involving 212 agencies that have been approved nationwide.
He said a review of the regulation pertaining to auxiliary police would be conducted from time to time for the wellbeing of the people and nation.
"Undeniably, the presence of the auxiliary police had helped reduce crime especially road crimes," he added.
