Statements have been recorded from several individuals by a special task force up by the Royal Malaysian Police to investigate the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the team also received several new information on the issue which would be investigated.
He said the team which included the PDRM, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the attorney-general's chambers were also awaiting a full report from the Auditor-General.
"This investigation is handled by a task force which includes the Royal Malaysian Police , MACC and the Attorney-General's Chambers. We are still conducting investigations and awaiting reports from the Auditor-General.
"We do not want our duties to overlap. It can be chaotic. We both want to investigate the same document. Let us do it one at a time but for now the special team will look into the new information that we receive and conduct investigation," said Khalid.
However, Khalid who was met after the 9th PDRM Assembly in Ipoh on Friday declined to comment further about the number of individuals who have been called for their statements to be taken.
"Who said nobody had been called yet? Let us do our duty without informing the world what we have done. When the time comes for us to make an announcement we will make it. I don’t need to say how many have been called. As I said earlier, this case is being investigated by a task force," he added.
