Shahrol Azral (pic) will be called up by the PAC once again to provide more information on 1MDB.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will be calling up former 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) CEO Datuk Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Halmi once again to testify in the committee's probe on the state development fund.
PAC member, William Leong Jee Keen said the committee would also be calling up other individuals including 1MDB chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin and former chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh.
“We have requested the committee chairman (Datuk Hasan Arifin) to call up those who were responsible at the time the debts were made
“We will continue to call up key witnesses…managers, directors and chairmen, besides Shahrol,” said Leong when met by reporters at the entrance of Parliament building today.
According to him, the two proceedings attended by 1MDB president and executive director, Arul Kanda Kandasamy, focused more on how the 1MDB rationalisation plan can dispose off assets and settle the company’s debts.
“Today, Arul Kanda tabled his rationalisation plan and explained how 1MDB can do all these.
“…But we, the PAC, we want to focus on the management (of 1MDB), on how these problems came about…when Arul Kanda joined, the problems had already existed.
“So the two meetings with Arul Kanda were mostly to find out how he intends to settle the company problems,” Leong explained.
Another PAC member, Tony Pua, also said more detailed explanations are still needed, especially from Shahrol Azral.
“However, the chairman (Hasan) has yet to decide on a date to call him up again,” said Pua.
Meanwhile, Astro AWANI's effort to seek clarification from Hasan on the matter was futile.
In the proceeding this morning, Arul Kanda was seen entering Parliament at 9.15am and only left the building at 12.10pm without addressing the media.
