1MDB: Treasury sec-gen to give full cooperation to PAC

Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Irwan Serigar Abdullah is committed to extend full cooperation to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), with regard to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

He said PAC had summoned him and Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director-general Datuk Seri Dr Rahmat Bivi Abdullah to give their statements on May 19.

"For sure, I will go and whatever questions they ask, I will answer," he told the media here Wednesday, after presenting RM40 million in financing to 21 successful creative companies approved by MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd.

PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed had on Monday said the parliamentary committee would begin investigations into 1MDB on May 19.

Asked if the PAC probe could help clear the air on 1MDB, Irwan Serigar said: "Let us see the outcome of the auditor-general's report on the company and wait for what PAC wants to ask...let us wait and see".

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on March 4, had instructed the auditor-general to verify the 1MDB accounts and said if any wrongdoing was proven, the law would be enforced without exception.

Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang in a statement Tuesday said the department planned to submit its preliminary report to the PAC, the latest by June-end.
