He said the exact venue for the Malaysia Day celebration in Sabah, however, will be announced after the first coordination meeting that he would co-chair with the minister in charge in Sabah, Datuk Christina Liew, the State Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment.
"Other details, including the theme and the logo, will be announced later," he told a post-Cabinet meeting press conference here today.
The National Day celebration was held in Putrajaya for the first time in 2003, followed by in 2005, 2018, 2019 and 2023.
In 2023, the National Day parade was held for the first time in Putrajaya in conjunction with the 46th National Day celebration, involving approximately 23,000 participants, 63 contingents, 22 bands, 18 decorated cars, 20 aircraft, and 312 other vehicles.
Thirteen years after playing host for the second time in 2005, Putrajaya once again hosted the 2018 National Day celebration with the theme 'Sayangi Malaysiaku (Love My Malaysia), and it was the first National Day celebration for the Federal Government led by Pakatan Harapan (PH).
In 2019, Putrajaya was chosen again as the venue for the National Day celebration with the theme 'Sayangi Malaysiaku: Malaysia Bersih" (Love My Malaysia: A Clean Malaysia) being adopted as the aspiration to make Malaysia a clean, efficient, and trustworthy nation.
In another development, Fahmi said he had the opportunity to watch the premiere of the film Memoir Seorang Guru yesterday.
Describing the film as very impactful, the minister also encouraged the public to watch it.
"It is a film produced with the Digital Content Fund (DKD)...it is very touching and reminds us of the crucial role of a teacher in character building," he said, adding that the film will be screened starting May 30 in 80 cinemas nationwide.
Memoir Seorang Guru, adapted from the work of the famous novelist, the late Azizi Abdullah, features several renowned actors including Datuk Rosyam Nor in the lead role, as well as Ellie Suriaty, Zul Huzaimy, Nabila Huda, Johan Asa'ri, and Trisha Ooi.
Meanwhile, when asked whether today's Cabinet meeting addressed the attack on Ulu Tiram Police Station in Johor recently, Fahmi said the Cabinet members were updated on the matter.
"The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has requested the authorities, namely the Royal Malaysia Police, to carry out their duties and do the necessary," he said.
In the 2.45 am incident on Friday, two young policemen were killed after being attacked by a masked man armed with a machete, while another member of the security forces was injured.
On Saturday, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that the suspect, who was also killed in the attack, was believed to have acted alone and had no links to any terrorist group.
