203 detained trying to cross state, district on Chinese New Year

KUALA LUMPUR: The first day of the Chinese New Year celebration saw cross-state and cross-district travel without permission record the highest number of offences involving 203 individuals.
Senior Minister (Defence Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the number was part of the 759 individuals detained in the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) yesterday.
He said of the 759 detained, 715 individuals were compounded and 44 remanded.
Here are the important things related to MCO enforcement yesterday:
• 759 individuals arrested for violating SOP, of whom 715 were compounded and 44 remanded;
• Cross-state and cross-district travel without permission recorded the highest number of offences involving 203 individuals;
• 36 illegal immigrants arrested, four land vehicles and a boat were seized;
• 623 individuals arrived from abroad yesterday and all were quarantined;
• 6,118 foreigners underwent the COVID-19 screening test yesterday, two found positive.
