23.9 per cent Kafa test candidates secure 8As

Four per cent more candidates secured 8As in last year's Kafa Class Assessment Test in the country to record an achievement of 23.9 per cent or 46,461 candidates, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.

He said the overall pass rate was retained at 100 per cent for the third consecutive year from 2014.

Jamil Khir said 197,623 candidates sat for the test in eight subjects - Prayer Practical; Appreciating the Islamic Way of Living; Al-Quran; Ulum Syariah (Faith and Worship); Jawi and Calligraphy; Sirah (Biography of the Prophet); Adab (Islamic Virtues) and Arabic language.

"The subjects of Prayer Practical and Appreciating the Islamic Way of Living saw the highest passing rate of 99.9 per cent, followed by Al-Quran at 99.6 per cent.

"This achievement demonstrates the success of students in mastering the act of prayer, recitation of the Quran, and leading their daily lives according to the tenets of Islam," he said at a press conference here today.

Also present was Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) director-general Tan Sri Othman Mustapha.

Jamil Khir said the test results could be checked online at http://semakan.islam.gov.my or by sending an SMS - MySMS - to 15888 from 11am today, while the result slip could be obtained from the respective schools from 3pm today. -- Bernama
