27 arrested for trying to enter Tanjung Batu
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) arrested 27 people who were trying to enter the Tanjung Batu operation zone this morning.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said the 27 people, who were travelling in three boats, claimed that they wanted to catch fish in the area.
“We have sent them to the Lahad Datu police station for investigations. What were they up to, where they came from, we are still investigating.
“We don’t want anyone to enter the operation area as it could affect the operation and endanger them,” he said adding that the 27 who were caught at 10am were not armed.
Ismail also said that the national security team has entered new areas in Tanjung Batu which they have not ventured into before this.
“We have dominated the areas and so far there is no any untoward incidents. However, we believe that the remaining Sulu intruders are in nearby areas.
“The most important thing is we are making grounds according to our plans in the operation,” he said at a press conference in Felda Sahabat 16 today.
Ismail said the operation in Tanjung Batu will continue until evening.
