He said 90 per cent of the children reported missing in 2014 have been found while 56 more are still missing.
A total of 3,522 out of 3,937 children reported missing since 2014 until January 2016 have been found, said Deputy Home Minister Masir Kujat.
He said 90 per cent of the children reported missing in 2014 have been found while 56 more are still missing.
He said 87 per cent of children reported missing in 2015 (1,563 children) were found while 219 still missing.
He said in January this year, 140 children were reported missing.
"Based on police investigation, there are several reasons for children missing cases. Some follow their friends, follow their lovers or misunderstanding in the family," he said in reply to a question from Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang at the Parliament today.
"Some have no interest in their studies, looking for jobs and not getting love and attention from their parents," he added.
He said no time frame had been set to find the missing children and added that police would continue their search until they are found.
He said Johor recorded the highest number (681) of missing children, followed by Selangor (538) and Kedah (474).
