34.2 % ex-army received VTB contribution

A total of 34.2 percent of ex-army personnel nationwide received the 1Malaysia, Non-pensionable Veteran (VTB) contribution of RM1,000 each.

VTB Secretariat Committee deputy chairman Maj Gen Datuk Rohisha Yahya said, so far 80,000 out of 234,000 eligible ex-army personnel have received the contribution.

"The rest will receive it in stages. The total allocation is RM234 million," he told reporters after presenting the contribution at the Dataran Melaka Historic City Council, here today.

The event was officiated by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

The government had announced the RM1,000 contribution during Budget 2013, last year.
