35 houses damaged by rainstorm in Baling

As at 11 pm Thursday, at least 35 houses in Kuala Ketil here were damaged by rainstorm which hit the areas since 5 pm.

Baling Social Welfare officer Shamsul Izrin Isahak said of the total, 25 houses were in Kampung Binjul Luar, one in Kampung Thye Seng, two in Kampung Pantai Cicar and seven in oil palm plantation areas around Baling.

"This is only initial statistics. We expect the number of affected houses to be higher than that as we are still assessing the situation.

"The Civil Defence Department is also in the midst of removing fallen trees," he told Bernama when contacted.
