A three-year-old girl sustained bruises on the legs, buttocks and arms, believed to have been caned by her nanny in Taman Sri Yacob here Thursday.
The girl's mother, Lau Hui Choon, 32 , when contacted said she received a call from the nanny at 8pm, complaining that her daughter had been crying non-stop.
Worried and curious, Lau said she rushed to pick up her daughter and found all the bruises on the girl's body.
"I was so shocked and immediately lodged a police report," she said.
A few hours later, however, Lau retracted the police report, admitting that she was the one who gave the rattan cane to the nanny to scare her daughter if she was being naughty.
"I never thought that she (nanny) will misuse the cane, I'm very disappointed with her uncompassionate act," Lau said.
Nusajaya police chief Supt Nor Hashim Mohamad confirmed receiving the report which was retracted a few hours later.
The case, however, is being investigated under Section 3 (1) of the Child Act.
