Sabah recorded 4,953 tuberculosis cases last year, an increase of 489 cases compared to 4,464 in 2015.
State Health director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said various counter measures had been taken but the number of TB cases was still on the rise in Sabah.
"The support of all quarters is needed to tackle the spread of TB," she said at the state-level World TB Day event here today.
The event was launched by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah.
Tan, in his speech, said Malaysia was committed to the World Health Organisation's 'End TB Strategy' to rid TB by 2035. -- Bernama
