4 killed, 2 severely injured in two-vehicle collision in Rompin

Four people were killed and two others seriously injured in a head-on collision involving a Perodua Kancil and a Proton Saga at the 138.8km Jalan Kuantan-Segamat stretch early today.
The deceased were Perodua Kancil driver Foo Kam Long, 45, his passengers, Salamiah Ating, 33, and Foo Wei Quan, 10, from Rompin and a passenger of the Proton Saga, Muhamad Sharil Sabri, 23, from Tumpat, Kelantan.
Rompin police chief DSP Muhammad Aidil Roneh Abdullah said Kam Long, Salamiah and Muhamad Sharil died on the spot while Wei Quan was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment at the Muadzam Shah Hospital.
He said the Proton Saga driver, Mohamad Zareqh Emeer Mohd Zainudin, 23, from Wakaf Baharu, Kelantan and another passenger of the Perodua Kancil, Foo Weng Ee, eight, sustained head and body injuries.
They were warded at the hospital where their condition was described as serious.
Muhammad Aidil Roneh said the crash occurred at 12.45am, when the Kuantan-bound Proton Saga travelling from Segamat, Johor skidded upon approaching a bend and collided with the Perodua Kancil.
