Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today gave assurance that he would continue striving for the country to take Malaysia to greater heights.
In commemorating his 40 years of active involvement in politics yesterday, Najib said he would increase his commitment to do his best in ensuring that Malaysia would continue to excel.
"Forty years in a life of any man, if looked back, must have been filled with laughter, tears and bitter sweet memories.
"But Alhamdulillah (All praises be to Allah), Allah has given me the chance to serve and work for the people of Pekan and Malaysia until today," he said in his blog NajibRazak.com today.
Najib also thanked all who had been there for him throughout his 40 years of involvement in politics.
"Last night at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Mosque in Pekan, I joined the congregation to perform solat hajat and tahlil prayers in conjunction with the 40th year of my involvement in politics.
"Thank you to the people of Pekan who have always supported me and attended the prayer ceremony yesterday to pray for our country to continue being blessed and safe," he said.
Najib contested in the Pekan parliamentary by-election on Feb 21, 1976, at the age of 23 before being appointed as Pahang Menteri Besar in 1982, which had made him the youngest menteri besar at the age of 29.
