A total of 545 people were moved to two evacuation centres in Dengkil, Sepang, Selangor yesterday when their homes were inundated with flood waters following heavy rain.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations), Mohd Sani Harul when contacted by Bernama, said they received a distress call at 4.48am.

He said 40 personnel from three fire stations based at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Cyberjaya and Putrajaya were rushed to 10 locations that were badly affected.

"Among the areas are Taman Baiduri, Taman Amentis, Kampung Cemperai, Taman Kristal, Kampung Kerinsing, Taman Delima, Taman Sri Tanjung and Kampung Revolusi Hijau," he said, adding that the situation in other areas was reported to be stable.

"However, if the rain continues, Kampung Tanjung 2 will probably be at risk. The residents are advised to follow every safety instruction that will be issued including to evacuate," he said.

Mohd Sani said 348 flood victims were being accommodated at the Dengkil community hall and 197 at the Kampung Semarang hall.
