Forty-nine of the 63 summonses issued on the express bus which slammed into 10 cars on the North-South Expressway (NSE), near the Menora Tunnel, last Sunday, were for exceeding the speed limit.
Perak police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief, Supt Wan Jamil Wan Chik said the bus was also detected to have nine summonses for moving slowly on the right lane.
"Besides these, it has two summonses for being driven out control, two summonses when the driver failed to show his driving licence and one for overtaking at a prohibited location for overtaking.
"All the summonses are unsettled since 2011 until now," he told reporters after 'Op Selamat 7/2016' at KM29 Ipoh-Lumut road, near Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), here, today.
Last Sunday afternoon, a Star QisTna express bus which was on its way from Penang to Kuala Lumpur, careened out of control on the sloping stretch of the NSE at KM265.8 and smashed into 10 cars.
Among the damaged cars in the incident were a Proton Persona, Perodua MyVi, Toyota Unser, Proton Saga, Proton Satria and Suzuki Alto.
The incident is believed to be due to the faulty brakes of the bus, causing it to ram into the vehicles.
However, all the 28 bus passengers and its driver were reportedly unhurt in the incident and no serious injuries sustained by the drivers and passengers of the cars involved.
