49.9 percent of water leaks in Kelantan due to old piping system - Devamany
Devamany also urged the state government to monitor the leakage because the volume and losses were quite big.
As much as 49.9 percent of water leaks in Kelantan occurred in residences throughout the state.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister''s Department Senator Datuk Seri S.K. Devamany said the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) had found that the situation was caused by old piping system.
"The problem does not occur in the main pipes of the water treatment plant, but in residences as most homes still use the old system," he said when winding up the debate on the motion of thanks for the royal address, representing KeTTHA in the Dewan Negara today.
Devamany also urged the state government to monitor the leakage because the volume and losses were quite big.
Meantime, Devamany said that since 2015, KeTTHA had refurbished 10 old water treatment plants and build a new one in Kelantan with an allocation of RM293 million.
The Dewan Negara sitting continues Tuesday.
