5,000 delegates expected to attend Umno General Assembly

Umno is ready to receive 5,447 delegates to 2012 Umno general assembly starting next week.
Secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the preparation is at final stage and running according to schedule.
"We believe that the Umno general assembly will run smoothly," he told reporters at a special press at Umno headquarters here yesterday.
The 2012 Umno general assembly will begin on Tuesday with the Wanita, Youth and Puteri delegates conference to be dominated by the general election, the focus of Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Some 991 delegates from each wing will convene with their own agenda before the opening of Umno general assembly on Thursday.
Fity-two delegations representing 20 parties from 18 countries have confirmed attendance as observers and participants of International Forum 2012.
The forum titled "The Conflict and Conciliation in the People's Politics-Looking Back or Looking Forward' will take place over two days starting Monday.
Tengku Adnan reminded the delegates to speak wisely and to avoid sensitive issues that may offend others.
Some 1,782 journalists from 102 print and electronic media agencies, bloggers and online news portal will cover the general assembly.
