5.7 quake hits Papua new Guinea

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred in Eastern New Guinea Region, Papua New Guinea at 8.58am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement here today said the epicentre of the quake was 95km north west of Lae, Papua New Guinea and 3,317km south east of Semporna, Sabah.
The quake did not pose any tsunami threat, it added. -- BERNAMA
