549 individuals were detained, two more remanded in violation of MCO directives

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has arrested a total of 549 individuals for disobeying orders of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Senior Defense Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, out of the total, 547 individuals were compounded while two others were remanded.
"Among the offenses detected were not wearing face masks, failing to record details, premises operating overtime, and activities at entertainment centers," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Regarding the country's border control, he said the authorities have successfully made 14 arrests involving Illegal Immigrants (PATI) including seizing a ship and six land vehicles.
"The government will take stern action against any party who tries to enter the country's borders illegally, especially in the rat lane area," he added.
Regarding the implementation of compulsory quarantine, a total of 56, 699 individuals have returned to the country through international border entrances.
Of that number, a total of 9,523 individuals are undergoing compulsory quarantine while 381 individuals have been sent to hospitals for treatment.
To date, a total of 36 public sanitation operations under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) have been implemented in 12 red zones, 12 yellow zones and five green zones involving 13 states.
