A total of 6,057 youths in the country have benefitted from the Young Agropreneur Programme under the 11th Malaysia Plan from 2016 till May this year, with grants totalling RM107.65 million.

Deputy Agriculture and Food Industries Minister II Datuk Che Abdullah Mat Nawi said the grants had been given out to those involved in the agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and food industries.

“It is aimed at assisting and encouraging the participation of young people in the agro-food sector,” he told reporters after launching the Johor Young Agropreneur Tour here yesterday.

“I urge the younger generation to take this opportunity provided by the government to help agropreneurs improve their working standards in agriculture-related activities,” he said, adding that in Phase 1 of 2020 (till May), 238 youths nationwide had been allocated grants totaling RM4.01 million.
