6 days' remand for Johor land assistant officer

MACC state director Datuk Simi Abdul Ghani says the suspect is believed to have used his position to obtain land through land offices in other districts besides acquiring land via ownership transfer.
A Johor Land assistant officer was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday and remanded for six days from today till Dec 4.
MACC state director Datuk Simi Abdul Ghani told Bernama when contacted, that the suspect in his 50s was detained at the agency's office around 2pm.
"We are also in the process of studying the source of his assets," he said.
He said the suspect is believed to have used his position to obtain land through land offices in other districts besides acquiring land via ownership transfer.
Simi said based on investigations, the suspect was found to own 16.75 acres of agricultural land, 68 acres of joint venture land, housing lot and luxury residences in a number of districts in the state. -- Bernama
