Not many royals are able to leave a deep impact among Malaysians. Among a small group of exceptions, Tunku Abdul Jalil is definitely one of them.
Not many royals in this country are able to leave a deep impact among ordinary Malaysians.
But the late Tunku Laksamana Johor, Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim is definitely one of those who have a special place in the hearts of the people.
It’s not a surprise that the demise of the Johor prince on Saturday was mourned by the nation.

The people’s prince
Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil during his lifetime was fondly known as the people’s prince. His friendly manner put everyone who meet him at ease.
Down to earth prince
Putting aside royal protocols, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil was comfortable portraying himself as an ordinary person and can be seen taking the train, eating at stalls and relaxing at the beach.

Strong and resilient
We often see a smiling and cheerful looking prince despite being diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer four years ago. He never once showed the pain he was going through. Instead, he went through life just like any normal, healthy and strong human being.

Animal lover
A degree holder in Zoological and Conservation Studies, the late prince once worked as a zookeeper in Singapore for a year and in London for almost two years.
Through the numerous amount of photos of animals uploaded on his Instagram account, it clearly showed that Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil is a true animal lover.
Whether wild or tamed, the prince loved taking photos with animals.

Charity
After being diagnosed with liver cancer, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil established the Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation, to help cancer patients in need of financial aid and treatment.
Apart from that, he often involved himself in various charity works including visiting patients in Johor hospitals to give motivation and provide assistance to them.
Loves joking around
Who does not love a prince who loves to joke around. Netizens are often amused by his antics on social media.
One of them was a notable video was of him pulling a surprise at a nurse when he was warded at the hospital.
He often teased his sister Tunku Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Sultan Ibrahim by uploading funny videos without her knowledge.

Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil was born on July 5, 1990 and was the fourt of six sibling.
He breathed his last breath at 7.11pm at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru.
