Perak police have detained 71 suspected triad members in Ops Cantas Khas 2, including three who are on the police’s wanted list.
Perak CID chief Datuk Gan Tian Kee said the operation was carried out from Aug 6 to Aug 19.
He said those arrested were aged between 17 to 60 years old, including school students.
Police also seized several items used by the suspects including fake guns, sharp instruments, knives and parang.
“Those detained were for various offences such as murder, robbery, drug offences, criminal intimidation and theft,” he said at a press conference today.
He said some of the police targets have escaped them by leaving the state but Gan is confident that they will be back.
“They will be back, and when they do, we will arrest them. No more warning. They know what they have been doing is against the law,” he said.
Gan said the police are armed with enough evidence of the suspects’ involvement in such activities and will be charging them in court soon.
