8,000 street lights to be installed in villages by Oct - TNB

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will put up 8,000 street lights in villages in 15 parliamentary constituencies in Kedah by October this year.
TNB Kedah General Manager (distribution) Ismail Lathifi Teh @ Saman, said the lights had been installed since early this year and have already been operating in some areas.
"The street lights will increase safety in the villages and each parliamentary constituency has been allocated 500 units.
"This project is a joint effort between TNB and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, with TNB installing the lights and the bills paid by the ministry," he said after attending a community programme, Projek Mesra Rakyat Tahun 2017, Kedah-level, at Kampung Zainal Abidin Johari, Bedong, here Saturday.
He added that the lights were mostly installed at street corners, junctions, and public areas like mosques.
Earlier, he attended the handing-over ceremony of house keys for the TNB People''s Project, with each unit costing RM30,000 to two recipients, officiated by Minister in the Prime Minister''s Department who is also the Member of Parliament for Jerai, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom.
Also present was Kedah MIC Liaison Chairman Senator Datuk Jaspal Singh.
