8 Ways To Cure That Pesky Hangover
Today is National Drink Wine Day. Most people might be confused because isn’t every day National drink wine day? But yes, we have a day where you can raise your glass and down that Pinot Gris or Riesling for a “reason”. Whether you are celebrating with red, white or even rosé, we know you love wine, therefore, we have come up with an essential guide on how to remedy that irksome hangover after your night of heavy wine consumption. Here’s what to do if you might have let a little too loose last night and now you’re paying for it: Sleeping It Off Time can heal all things, just like a broken heart – sleeping through your body metabolizing last night’s one too many drinks will make you feel loads better. Just make sure you keep hydrated once you wake up. Drink Electrolytes Some mornings it might feel like a tiny man is inside your head pounding away at your skull with a sledgehammer but that is because your brain is dehydrated. While water is good as well, sports drinks like 100 Plus or Gatorade contain electrolytes that help replenish and re-establish your body system levels. Take A Painkiller Aspirin or Ibuprofen are great choices, but make sure to read the instructions before you take it. Remember, excessive usage of these medications may cause long-term damage to your liver, especially when paired with alcohol, so make smart decisions with this cure. Drink Ginger Tea Ginger helps relieves nausea due to hangovers and motion sicknesses. Drink Boiled Water with Honey and Lemon This will boost your blood sugar and vitamins levels and it tastes lush as well. H20 Water is a must for a hangover cure because alcohol is a diuretic and causes dehydration. So, before falling into bed, drink about 16 to 20 ounces of water.
Eat Toast or Crackers Your mother probably gave you toast as a kid when you were sick or couldn’t keep food down because although no food can really stop the roller coaster in your stomach, carbs can help bring your blood sugar levels back up the morning after. When blood sugar levels dip, your liver reacts by producing more glucose from stored carbs. So grab a bunch of crackers and start munching way. Exercise Although the whole “sweat it out” thing is a myth, it could help boost your mood with endorphin release. It may ease your guilt about how much you drank last night while burning a few calories, just be sure to keep a bottle of water at hand.
MYTH: Drinking MORE Alcohol “Hair of the dog” is just another excuse to drink more alcohol in the morning and it’s a risky practice and you may simply be delaying the appearance of symptoms until the alcohol wears off again.
DON’T drink coffee It may seem like the obvious port-of-call for must hangover sufferers but it’s essentially a diuretic and causes your body to lose water rapidly. Coffee is also the number one cause of those awful sweats and heart palpitations we’re all prone to after a night of debauchery. So evade coffee like the plague! A wise man once said that drinking alcohol is like borrowing fun from tomorrow. He is scarily accurate. We hope these remedies help you regain your normality and boost your mood after a crazy night of drinking! There isn’t really an instantaneous cure (there should be one by now) but just remember to drink responsibly and have fun. by: Adeline Tan
