9 more bodies of Ranau quake found - Masidi Manjun

State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun said nine more bodies have been recovered at Mount Kinabalu at noon Saturday, bringing the total to 11 remains that have been retrieved since the quake struck in Ranau on Friday.

In a series of tweets, Masidi said two of the bodies have been identified while eight are still missing.

“The police forensic team have arrived to assist,” he said.

On Friday, two remains were brought down from Mount Kinabalu at approximately 8.25pm by the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department.

Officials said the first body, believed to be a guide, arrived at the Timpohon Gate at the foot of the mountain.

The second victim, a woman, was carried down to Laban Rata at 8.45pm.

Both the bodies were brought to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu for post-mortem.

A strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake rocked the district of Sabah early Friday.
