The National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) will appoint famous state and club football players as icons for its anti-drug campaign.
Its deputy director-general, Azizan Ariffin said the players' popularity among fans could be used to raise awareness about staying clear of drugs.
"Football players in the country have a huge fan base, and they need to be role model to their fans," he said at the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between AADK, Kedah Football Association and Kedah Stadium Corporation (KSC) at Wisma Darul Aman Sunday.
Via the cooperation, AADK would also screen several videos on the dangers of drug abuse on the stadium's billboards, to raise public awareness about the dangers of drugs.
KFA was the second team and state to cooperate with the agency after the Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) had done the same on April 8.
The signing of the memorandum was witnessed by Kedah Menteri Besar and and KFA president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, and KSC general manager Zulhasni Mohamad Rashid.
