Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott returned home today after a one-day oficial visit to Malaysia.

Abbott and his delegation departed from Bunga Raya Complex, KL International Airport (KLIA), here, at 10.05pm.

Present at the airport to bid them farewell was Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi.

The visit, Abbott's first to Malaysia since his appointment as the prime minister of Australia on Sept 18 last year, is set to strengthen the cordial relations between the two countries.

Ealier today, Abbott and his counterpart Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak held a four-eyed meeting and a closed-door delegation meeting to discuss the existing cooperation and matters of interest to both nations.

At the joint press conference, Abbott reiterated his commitment to assist Malaysia in the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 and the perpetrators in the atrocity against MAS flight MH17.

Malaysia and Australia have committed to contribute AUD60 million (RM180 million) each in their quest to locate MH370 whose flight path was believed to have ended in the southern Indian Ocean on March 8.
