KOTA BHARU: Despite being thousands of miles away from his hometown in Gaza, Palestine, Abdallah Ismail's 'jihad' against the Israeli Zionist regime and his efforts to fight for the rights of Palestinians continue through the social media platform.

The 35-year-old man, who has been living in Kampung Pantai Cahaya Bulan here since 2014 after marrying a local woman, said it was his responsibility to speak the truth about the current situation in Palestine.

Abdallah's persistence began to bear fruit when his live Facebook session on the Palestine issue has been widely shared since Saturday.

The video which saw Abdallah speaks fluent Kelantanese dialect has so far garnered more than 21,000 shares and 134,000 views.

"It is one of my duty to spread the truth. This is how I am doing my part, here in Malaysia. Although many people have expressed their support (towards Palestinians), they don't know everything," he said when met by reporters, here today.

Abdallah said he used social media as a platform to share his knowledge, facts, history and the latest news about the issue, especially what happened at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood as it could reach a wider audience.

"There are also some parties who try to spread lies and slanders against Palestine. Therefore, I will refer and read news published by the Arab media, local media and radio as my sources.

"I will do fact check before sharing any news to other viewers. I will also try to get in touch with my family members and friends in Gaza to update me on the latest situation in Palestine," he said.

Meanwhile, Abdallah said apart from financial contributions, food and clothes, Palestinians in Gaza hoped for continuous support and prayers from Muslims around the world.

He added that hospitals in Gaza are also in dire need of medical supplies and facilities.
