The police have rescued a toddler and detained an Indonesian woman who allegedly abducted him from a babysitter's house in Taman Andalas here on Wednesday.
A police team found the one-year-old victim unharmed yesterday at a house in Kepong.
This followed the arrest of the woman and an alleged female accomplice about 5pm at a supermarket in Damansara, Petaling Jaya, said South Klang District police chief ACP Kamarul Zaman Mamat.
He said the two women, aged 40 and 25, were picked up after the toddler's father lodged a police report.
Also detained to facilitate investigations was a 26-year-old man who was found at a house in Jalan Batu Nilam 1, Bukit Tinggi.
Kamarul Zaman said initial investigations revealed that the woman who abducted the toddler knew the victim's family well, adding that the suspect told the police she was fond of the child.
He said last Wednesday, the Indonesian woman reportedly visited the child at the babysitter's house.
"When the babysitter went to the bathroom, the suspect fled with the child, together with a man who was waiting outside the house in a car about 4pm," he said when contacted Friday.
