PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang today questioned the action of DAP which disputed the tabling of the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Bill 2016 which he tabled in Dewan Rakyat on May 26.
Abdul Hadi said the DAP need not interfere in matters involving Muslims because the bill was aimed at empowering the Syariah Court in the country.
"The motion is related only to Muslims and does not touch on the affairs of non-Muslims. Why does DAP disturb the motion which relates to Muslims," he told a media conference after opening the 62nd PAS Annual Assembly at Kelantan Tarbiyah Islamiah Centre in Pengkalan Chepa here, today.
The DAP leadership had protested against the bill claiming it paved the way for the implementation of hudud law in the country.
Commenting further, Abdul Hadi said although PAS and DAP were in the opposition but the party had a different approach to politics.
He said PAS had long held negotiations with the Barisan Nasional federal government to allow the party to table the motion in the Dewan Rakyat.
The Private Member's bill was tabled by Abdul Hadi who is also Marang Member of Parliament.
