Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim today apologised to the people of Selangor for dragging them into the turmoil over the state’s MB position, The Malaysian Insider reported.
"I am sorry for the spotlight that has been put on you. For me, it is not a problem because I chose to be a politician... so I must face it,” he was quoted by the news portal.
"I am sorry to all of you because you did not come here to get involved in all of this. That is the price to pay for integrity,” he told some 200 employees of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) Integrity Conference today.
In his speech, Abdul Khalid who was sacked from his Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) said PKNS had become the state’s development backbone with 11 city and housing projects for the people.
In his speech, he said mega projects are no longer a priority, as the people are more concerned with transparency, integrity and responsibility of the leaders.
The portal also reported that Abdul Khalid has been shying away from the media since PAS withdrew its support for him as the Selangor MB.
He had also written to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, seeking an audience with him overseas.
However, the Selangor Sultan’s private secretary, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani said the Sultan has told Abdul Khalid to wait for him to return to the country.
