Selangor Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim may step down from his post after Hari Raya Aidilfitri or latest by September.
According to source, this is after taking into consideration the programmes scheduled earlier for Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidlfitri.
“We want this to run smoothly and to avoid any confusion on several programmes that have been planned,” he said.
The source added that, two PKR members are currently under consideration for the MB post.
When asked if any issues arose from DAP and PAS as Abdul Khalid’s replacement will definitely be from PKR, he said:
“DAP generally agrees, however, some issues arose from PAS state offices, but the PAS central leadership has given its green light."
On Monday, Abdul Khalid denied that he will be stepping down and had submitted his resignation letter as stated in a WhatsApp message disseminated on Sunday night.
He urged for the quarters involved in spreading this rumour to stop.
The 14th Selangor MB is said to leave his position after a discussion held with the top leadership of PKR, DAP and PAS.
Previously, PKR Vice President Azmin Ali and Selangor PKR information chief Shuhaimi Shafiei admitted that the “Kajang step” was an effort to remove Khalid from his post.
However, the strategy failed.
Recently, Abdul Khalid had failed to defend his seat as Kuala Selangor PKR branch chief during the party elections.
