Former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Thursday he backed the calls for the posts of president and deputy president in Umno to be uncontested in the coming party elections.
"This has its good. If too many positions are contested, there will be chaos," the veteran Umno leader told Bernama after delivering his keynote address at the 2013 World Peace Forum on "Innovation and International Security", here.
When asked if the move would be seen as an "undemocratic", Abdullah said it would still depend on the Umno members' decision.
"But if that is what the majority wants, what can we do?" he asked.
