State police chiefs should take stern action against errant members of the force or irresponsible parties which disseminate gory pictures of dead victims of crime or accidents on the Internet.
Former inspector-general of police, Tan Sri Musa Hassan said the police chiefs should oversee and advise their men not to commit such despicable acts.
He said he had personally taken action against police officers who placed such pictures in a computer (Internet).
"If we always monitor and give them advice, God-willing, this will not happen," he added.
Musa was a guest at a talk show, 'Ala Carte Pagi' Bernama Radio24 titled 'Antara Realiti dan Pembohongan Media Sosial' here on Monday.
He also advised the public not to easily believe news and information presented on the Internet, especially on the social media.
"We have to know how to choose and evaluate any news we read from every angle," said Musa, who is also chairman of the Malaysian Community Crime Care, a crime prevention and awareness non-governmental organisation.
