The authorities have been urged to take stern action against Bersih 4 rally participants who stamped on the pictures of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said such action must be curtailed and stern action taken, otherwise it will create an insolent generation.
"The act was deliberately done while we were celebrating our independence and was seen by people in all parts of the world," he told reporters after laying the foundation stone for the construction of a Night Market, here Tuesday.
"I want the authorities to take firm action against such immoral behaviour.
Today, they stamp on the leaders and tomorrow they will stamp on their parents," he said.
Asked about the participation of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the illegal rally, he expressed surprise as the former prime minister had opposed street rallies.
Razif said Mahathir was among the most vocal critic of the reformation rallies championed by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim whom he had sacked as deputy prime minister.
"But yesterday, he joined the illegal rally. I believe the people can make their own interpretation of what had happened," he added.
