Action will be taken against UMNO members who join red Shirts rally - Tengku Adnan
Red Shirts had wanted to hold an assembly at the same place to block the Yellow Shirt gathering.
UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the party will take action against UMNO members who participate in the Red Shirts rally held yesterday.
The rally was held as a counter rally to Bersih 5.0.
Tengku Adnan said he himself will look at the videos and footage available on the protesters before listing their names.
"We will bring the names to the disciplinary board for further action. Right now, we are waiting for the report," he said at a press conference today after launching a gotong-royong event, here.
He also expressed his unhappiness with Bersih 5 rally held yesterday, adding that it had affected the business in the city and tourists.
"I am sad and unhappy with what transpired yesterday because I myself was at an area where I could monitor and see for myself," he said.
"I can see there were things that Malaysians were doing, which they should not do because of certain people who are unhappy and irresponsible. I urge these people to stop disturbing businesses," he added.
Police said a total of 18,000 people from the Red Shirts and Yellow Shirts movements took part in the Sunday rally which saw many main roads leading to Dataran Merdeka cordoned off.
Police said 15,500 of them were from the Bersih 5 group, also known as the Yellow Shirts, while 2,500 were from the Red Shirts.

The Yellow Shirt had planned to hold its assembly at Dataran Merdeka even though it was not approved while the Red Shirts also wanted to hold an assembly at the same place to block the Yellow Shirt gathering, which raised fears of a clash erupting between the two groups.
